Todd Jones’ primary role is overseeing and directing the investment platform of Gratus Capital, which encompasses strategies in equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternatives (both liquid and illiquid). Todd also serves as the portfolio manager for the firm’s value-oriented equity mutual fund (Marathon Value Portfolio: MVPFX). In addition, Todd is responsible for the research and production of all market-related publications, including our Quarterly Market Commentary, Interim Updates, and Weekly Market Updates. Todd also works closely with our Director of Client Services to deliver a seamless client experience and smooth back office operations.
Todd brings a myriad of diverse work experiences and skill sets to Gratus Capital. Prior to joining Gratus, Todd was a portfolio manager with US Trust, where he monitored the asset allocation and risk management of over $300 million in client investment and trust accounts. Previously, Todd was a financial advisor with M.L. Stern & Co., where he specialized in fixed income investments and public finance placement. Todd began his post undergraduate career as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, where he served in various capacities including Rifle Platoon Leader and Executive Officer. During this time, he lived in Germany for four years and led soldiers through combat tours in Kosovo, Bosnia, and Iraq.
Todd received his undergraduate degree in Finance from James Madison University and his MBA from Georgia State University. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) designation and is a member of the CAIA Association®. Todd was a series 7 and series 66 portfolio manager prior to joining Gratus Capital.
Todd is involved in the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Disabled American Veterans Association (DAV) and various parent leadership roles through his sons’ schools in Decatur.
Outside the Office
Todd lives in Decatur with his wife and three sons. He enjoys fishing, soccer, hiking, and coaching his sons in various sports.
